Dan “The Man” Rivero is one of GCW’s many rising
stars. Formally known as The Flame.
Flame debuted on the Meltdown of May 3rd 2001. He began his career against few
other of GCW’s stars in a battle royal in which he came extremely close to taking home
a win, but he was eliminated by Mikado.
Flame made an “alliance” with the ZIP Crew, and became one of Stone’s only sane friends. Just a week later, he turned on the ZIP Crew
by attacking Zippy and Gidget, and joined up with Freak, to form “Flame
Time.” Happy with removing Zippy from his title match, Caldera booked a him in a
Tag Team match against Zippy and Stone at Shockwave. Flame Time already had their eyes on the Tag Team Champions,
Assassin One and Mikado.
Just a few short days before Shockwave, Flame eliminated Stone with a lead pipe, putting the Tag Team match in Jeopardy. Stone didn’t make it out of the hospital
in time for Shockwave, which made Flame Time very happy, only to be interrupted
by GCW’s Tag Team Champions, Assassin One and Mikado. The battle began for the
Tag Titles.
On the Next Meltdown, Flame Time battled Assassin One and Mikado for the Tag Titles. Freak refused to make a tag, and cost them
the match. Flame hit Freak with the Big Red Bomb, and thus, Flame Time came to a halt.
On The Second Oblivion, Flame and Freak went one on one. They went all out on each other, and once the smoke cleared, Flame
stood victorious.
That was The Flames last match, he went through a Transformation and is currently known as Dan “The Man” Rivero.
Dan teamed with Katanya to take on the Tag Team Champs. A fierce match took place. Katanya had Assassin One in a corner and
Dan unknowingly sent Mikado into the same corner, squashing her between The Tag
Champs. The matched continued, Katanya lying at ringside not moving. Mike Hardy
came to Katanya’s rescue and carried her away, and at the same time distracted
Dan and cost him the match. After the match, The Tag Champions continued to
assault Dan until “Goldenboy” Jimmy Taylor came to the rescue with a steel chair.
Dan “The Man” Rivero and “Goldenboy” Jimmy Taylor then joined and became “Real Deal.” Not long after, Jimmy Taylor reveals that he
was part of CWU, and he then becomes Chris Van Burren.
On that same night, the show before Dangerous Games, Dan goes up against Mikado, one half of the Tag Champs. Dan takes a win home against Mikado with a devastating Big
Red Bomb.
Dangerous Games, only four days away, Real Deal get a Tag Team Title Shot, and a shot at number one contendership for the heavyweight title.
Dangerous Games, Dan and Chris’ biggest night…
They battle Assassin One and Mikado for Tag Team Gold, and after a grueling match, Dan hits the Rivero Elbow for the win.
Real Deal finally did it. They took home Tag Gold, but the night wasn’t over. Dan drew number 18 in the 30 man Battle Royal. Dan “Da
Man” Taylor, who wasn’t even in the match, eliminated Dan. But, the Tag Team
Champion was still satisfied with his victory.
The next Meltdown, Dan “The Man” Rivero fought Dan “Da Man” Taylor, in possibly GCW’s quickest match ever. Dan Taylor charged
straight at Rivero only to be rolled up and lose the match.
Dan “ The Man” Rivero’s tag Partner, Chris Van Burren, ended up leaving Rivero high and dry…with two tag titles to fend for on
his own. From the looks of it, Dan will probably team up with former CWU-ee Trash.
